Cruise 2015: A Journey through Juneau

I've always thought that Alaska's capital was Fairbanks, Anchorage, or any of its famous cities. Apparently not, because the correct answer is Juneau (a place which I, I confess, have never heard of before). I just discovered the truth when I began looking up things about Alaska for our summer cruise. Last August 2015, we got to explore Juneau and some other cities of AK.

First on our itinerary was the Mendenhall GlacierThere's also a waterfall near the glacier that visitors can get closer to, but we didn't get to take the trail towards it. After marveling at the beauty of the view, we then went on with our day by hopping on a boat that would take us to the seas for some whale watching. We spotted a couple of them and they were really delightful! Humpback whales tend to spritz some water while coming up for air, and that's our clue on where to watch out. Once they're done, they flip their tails. Did you know that the patterns on the tail of each whale is distinct, and therefore serve as their individual identification? (I managed to catch some of them on photo and turned them into lovely GIFs!)

Back then, I would always associate Alaska with white, glistening snow; but after seeing things for myself, I realized how it also had so much blues and greens. Can't wait to share the rest of my Alaska snaps!
