What better way to kick off 2016 that with an outfit in this year's colors? Yes friends, I really am wearing an ensemble in color-- and in pastels, too! I don't know about you, but I'm really loving Pantone's 2016 color of the year: rose quartz and serenity.

I'm not one to set any new year's resolution for myself-- explicitly, that is. So I won't be saying that I'll be wearing more colors this year or anything like that; in fact, this might be one of those rare times you'll catch me wearing something close to colorful haha!
Following the tradition of greeting the new year with something new, I finally wore the top and skort that my mom bought for me when she and her mom went to Bangkok back in October last year. I absolutely love their details-- look at the "open" back of the blouse, and the scalloped hemline of the skort! (The skort actually also has pockets with scalloped details, but you can't see them because I wore the top tucked out.) I could only imagine how many more clothes I would have gotten if I went with them *hearteyes*
But the newer item in this outfit would be the tote bag, which my mother also gave me, this time as a Christmas gift (thanks mom!!! ♥) I'm actually more of a satchel girl, but I figured I should expand my bag selection now that I'm growing older. I can literally just dump everything I need to bring (laptop included, if ever) in my bag and still look classy lol. I got to pick the color, and I went with dusty blue for basically three reasons: (1) it is really close to Serenity, a.k.a. one-half of 2016's colors of the year, (2) I could really use some pop of color in my outfits from time to time, and (3) I think the color looks good with pretty much everything.
I then completed my outfit with light makeup, my trusty white sneakers, and silver accessories. I think I've mentioned before that I've been hooked on unconventional earrings, particularly earpins, ear cuffs and ear jackets. I just got my new pair from a mini bazaar in Glorietta 5 last Christmas. Now the Pandora bracelet is nothing new, but I do hope I'll get to add more charms this year! You can't see the other bracelet that much, but it has three charms: a seashell (becauseI'm a mermaid I love the sea), a horseshoe (for luck), and a paper airplane with my initial 'E' on it (because I love to travel).
Aaaaand that's all for my first outfit post-- and first post altogether-- this 2016! I do tend to get a bit chatty in my blog, don't I? Speaking of my blog, I managed to queue over the break all my posts on my 2015 US vacation; so while academics will be keeping me busy again *sobs*, my blog will still be updated in a way yay!

I love the rose-quartz colour of your top and the scalloped hem of your skirt. The Serenity blue colour of your Lacoste tote bag complements your blouse nicely. You look fabulous.
